Milbemax for small cats is a beef flavoured worming tablet, that can be used for heartworm when given monthly or for intestinal worms if used every 3 months.
Milbemax contains the active ingredients milbemycin oxime and praziquantel to effectively kill all types of intestinal worms that infest our pets. Some wormers do not cover tapeworm, but the praziquantel in Milbemax effectively kills this common parasite. Milbemax for cats is suitable for cats from 6 weeks of age, and over 2kg in weight. The appropriate dose is as follows: 0.5-1kg – ½ tablet 1-2kg – 1 tablet When used in kittens, please worm your kitten at 6 weeks, 8 weeks and 12 weeks. If you are using Milbemax for both intestinal worms and heartworm, continue with monthly worming for life. If you are using Milbemax just for intestinal worms you just need to give your Milbemax tablet every 3 months from 6 months of age onwards. If given monthly, Milbemax is an effective preventative for pets at risk of heartworm. Heartworm is spread by mosquitoes and is incredibly hard to treat once your cat has been infected. In cats, just one single worm can cause heart failure. This is why monthly prevention is recommended in Australia, all year round. For the small cost of a heartworm tablet, your cat is safe from this deadly disease. If your cat just needs treatment for intestinal worms, including roundworm, hookworm and tapeworm, Milbemax effectively kills these intestinal worms to break the lifecycle of these parasites. If you do happen to see worms in your pet’s faeces, this just means that the product is working effectively.
